RE: to leave water or not to leave water is the ?

You always need to consider the source of your water. When I lived in the city I would leave water in my tank for up to two months. I now live open rural on two acres with my own water well (no water treatment except softener). I will not leave water in the tank for any length of time. I see alge trying to grow in my cats water bowl and a bird bath and I have to keep them clean.

RE: Coleman Mach 3 PS AC troubleshooting…..

There should be a start capacitor for the fan motor. I'm guessing it's bad. They fail often enough and are not that expensive. If you can read the numbers on it you can buy a generic one from Grainger or an electric motor repair shop.

RE: I'm settin' me up a man-cave

My first thought is a moveable wall so you are not restricted to the very front. Kind of an indoor slide. Unload the toys and double your space. Maybe a dance pole to go with your music! ;)

RE: Under Bed Storage

I'd LOVE to be able to post pics to this site but I'm older than 12 years old and I have no kids to show me how! I've looked at the instructions and don't have a clue what they are talking about! I post on other sites, I even ebay and they are so simple, I don't know why this site is so difficult.

Under Bed Storage

I just bought some Rubbermaid plastic containers that fit perfect under my lift up bed. The storage area is just under 4" high and these fit perfect. I can get 6 of them in just one section. I wanted something to keep First Aid supplies in and I found these at Walmart 2-for $3.48. They are called Rubbermaid Takealongs 1 gallon. They show putting food in them. The bar code is 71691 41692 . This will help with my storage for those little things I like to have and make it easy to orginize and store them until needed.

RE: does anyone know? 12v question....

You need to switch some wires around to have 12v from the truck jumper cable to the camper. Mine has 3 wires in the camper plug/socket, ground, tail/running lights and 12v power in to the camper which connects to the inverter and to camper battery. If you take the 6-way camper plug/socket loose from the camper, turn off everything in the truck, with the jumper cord plugged in and with a 12v test light find the the pin that has 12v. Then move the camper 12v wire to that pin. You can check by turning on a light in the camper. Hope this makes sense.

RE: does anyone know? 12v question....

I just bought a 2007 Sun Valley Eagle, basicly the same as the Apache. I had to change wires around in my 6-way plug to work on my Silverado. I figure Chevy has a better design for the plug wires. You are better off having a battery in the camper and you should have a 12v charger/120v/converter in the unit. Mine has a battery box with a vent outside the camper. With a battery in the camper you want to disconnect the camper plug so the truck battery dosen't discharge when not plugged in to shore power and the truck not running. You might want to contact Sun Valley and ask for an owners manual. When trying to light the fridge it takes a few minutes for the LP to get to it if it's been off for a while, keep trying the igniter.

RE: And so... The project begins

A simple suggestion, Liquid Nail. I try to use it when possible, it can make wood joints much stronger. If you glue two pieces of wood together and let cure then pull apart, the wood will rip before the L. Nail comes apart. There are generic brands that seem to be as good. Also drywall type screws instead of nails, much stronger.

RE: Do Air Bags wear out??

I worked on semi's (mostly trailers) for 30 years, supervised 3 different shops and I probably have replaced 20 air bags over that time period. Many of those were from damage, something rubbing or suspension failing and puncturing.

RE: Old fashioned parallel parking whiskers

I put a couple pieces of red tape on the front of my TC that line up with the PU bed rails so when I back up I can use them for guides. I put small marks on the rear so I know when it's lined up straight. I can shift it with the jacks if I need to.

RE: Truck bed

My bedliner fits very well and stays put. It has the Chevy Bowtie logo on the front and has 1/2-3/4" ribs all the way accross. I don't have problems with stuff sliding around. I did know a lady that Armour-All'ed her bedliner and WHAT A MISTAKE!!

RE: Digital Volt gauge installation

I just bought a regular 0-16 auto style voltmeter and installed it today in my new TC right near the power converter. The local Harbor Freight had them on sale foe $3.99 . It will let me know at a glance that the truck is charging or that the converter is charging or the battery is up. I also put in a cigarette lighter style plug for accesories if needed.

RE: In a t/c again

You might look into the new plastic/wood products that are out now. They are made to be used on outside decks and can be cut, drilled, glued, screwed or stapled easily. Will never rot. They are expensive if you are doing a deck but for small repairs you won't really notice. I used some in a boat floor repair and it worked well.

RE: Truck bed

I bought my new TC about a month ago and brought it 215 miles home with the bedliner in the truck with no problems. Mine is 2004 Chevy with factory bedliner. My bedliner fits very well and dosen't move around like some do. I told the dealer I didn't want the bedliner when I bought the truck new so they gave it to me. I might take the liner out just to see the difference, the liner will slip in or out easily.

RE: Propane tanks safety

Not sure if it makes a difference but what was the outside temp when the tank was filled? Might have been cool/cold and gas expanded when warmed up. ?????

RE: Refrigerator fan in pup tc

I would call Sun Valley (Sun Lite), 1-800-327-7684 I just bought a new leftover 2007 from a dealer in South Fl. and had some questions before I bought it and they were very help full.

RE: those that have &those that will

The biggest problem I've encountered on the interstate or high speed roadways is people are too stupid to move over when passing a disabled vehicle even when they can see someone working on it! I handled many service calls on broken down semi's and faced life or death situations most of the time. Even the wind generated by a passing vehicle is a problem when jacking a vehicle. Even other semi's won't move over for break downs. If you watch any of the videos shown on TV of police dash cams even the lights don't help sometimes. The idiots even run into the police cars! And FYI Florida Law now requires you to slow down or change lanes when there is an emergency vehicle on the side of the road.

RE: Do it yourself pressure leaks test???(Compleated)

A friend bought a new van about 25 years ago. it had a water leak in the left rear. he took it to the dealer and they turned on the dash air on high and checked it with a water hose and found a pin hole in the roof seam caulking. It dosen't take much pressure to find a leak. Just use a squirt bottle with dish soap mix.

RE: TC Insurance.

I just added my new TC to my policy. I have Travelers of Fl. Ins. on my PU. The agent said it will cost another $11. for 6 months. I got the policy change today but haven't had chance to review it yet.
